FACT-Finder Travel converts such information, as well as all other input, into a suitable booking query, e.g. for Traveltainment or suited to your own databank. For the user, everything is extremely simple; he can type in whatever he wants. The new semantic search technology reduces fruitless search procedures and makes online booking an all-round positive experience.

How semantic technology works

Semantics is the study of meaning. FACT-Finder links the terms entered with a “cloud of knowledge” (Ontology), enabling numerous relationships and hierarchies between terms to be modelled.

FACT-Finder then evaluates the possible solutions together with their probability, whereby the relationships are analysed as well (probabilistic inferences).

The search query “Easter Sun” for example, means that holiday resorts are sought where the weather is already warm at Easter – usually “swimming weather”. In order to evaluate the results, FACT-Finder consults a climate table and suggests Egypt, as well as several other possible locations.
